Specialist Training School Wing

Specialist Training School (STS) Wing is imparting basic training to the Assistant Commandant (Direct Entry) [AC (DE)] , Assistant Commandant (Limited Departmental Competitive Examination) [AC (LDCE)], Sub Inspector (Direct Entry) [SI (DE)] and Sub Inspector (Limited Departmental Competitive Examination) [SI (LDCE)]. The Wing is also conducting basic training of Medical officers, Veterinary Officers and Engineers (MOBC).

STS caters for the training capacity of 300 AC(DE)/AC(LDCE) trainees and 250 SI(DE)/SI(LDCE) trainees.

Basic training is imparted in two different groups, viz, AC (DE) Group and SI (DE) Group. AC(DE) Group imparts basic courses of AC (DE), AC (LDCE), and MOBC, whereas, SI (DE) Group imparts basic training of SI (DE) and SI (LDCE).

AC (DE) Group
The aim of the training is to ensure that the Officer Trainees acquire necessary knowledge, skills, understanding, attitudes and behaviour required for effectively discharging their duties as Company Commanders initially and later to man various senior supervisory and staff assignments in the Force. The wing further aims at nurturing human values in all its areas of activity to prepare trainees to be ‘effective human-beings’.

SI (DE) Group
The basic training of direct entry Sub-Inspectors has been organized at BSF Academy since the inception of the Force. Now the group is also imparting basic training to Sub Inspector (Limited Departmental Competitive Examination). The basic training of Sub-Inspectors is organized in such a way that they acquire necessary knowledge, skills, altitudes and behaviour required for effectively discharging the duties of Platoon Commanders.
